Vegas Report

Hello friends!

We just came back from a very quick visit to vegas. It's always fun to witness the extravagant colorful fare that is las vegas and especially at this time of the year, it was over the top fancy to say the least. We accompanied the husband to his annual conference there and for a short visit, we all had a great time. Unfortunately, I had to endure travelling with a severe head cold and congestion and despite my foggy head, we had fun!

While the hubs attended his meetings, me and my sweet sidekick aston had the perfect time bonding over brunch, shopping and treating ourselves with delightful desserts over coffee for me and milk for him. Although I'm sure he was disappointed we were not in Disneyland, on our way home he had the time of his life meeting our plane's pilots and crew - he was so excited and can't stop talking about it!

It's great to be back home. I've got my to-do list on pause-mode because of our trip but I am determined to cross those out this coming week!  How was everyone's weekend?

Decking The Halls

Like everyone, we tackled holiday decorating last weekend in between cooking, baking, eating and shopping. It's always fun to get the family together and happily decking the halls with christmas songs playing in the background. Such a heartwarming tradition!

As every year, we also put out a baby tree (previous baby trees here) for Aston and this year he was such a big help decorating the big tree as well as his own little one. Picking out his favorite ornaments (while breaking a few along the way) and digging through boxes of christmas decor proved to be a fun thing to do for him. With still loads of decorating to complete, here are bits and pieces of our decked out home.
I still have a few things to put out like our front door wreaths and kitchen island tree. But so far, it's really beginning to look a lot like christmas!

Scenes from Halloween

HALLOWEEN 2012

Halloween 2012 Halloween 2012 Halloween 2012

Yesterday's halloween was so much fun. The day started with the annual school's halloween day parade and classroom party. The kids get to wear their favorite costumes (they were all so cute!) and enjoyed a post-parade party with arts and crafts, sweet treats and a party favor to take home.

By the time i picked up Aston from school, I can tell he was pooped. But he was a trooper as he knows later in the evening he has a whole block to T or T. His cousins Daniel and David - Ailynne's boys - were our early trick or treaters, so we headed out and finished the rest of the night with them. Oh, and we also crashed a neighbor's block party - all in good fun!

Pumpkin Patch from the Past

See, our son is now 5. He thinks he's too hip for the pumpkin patch now. I would still want him to have pictures at the pumpkin patch but he's putting on the breaks and would just love to watch the little babies frolic at the patch.

So, i'm staring at this precious moment back in time in 2010 where he smiled and posed. It actually made it to our holiday card that we decided to do Thanksgiving card that year instead of Christmas. Uhm, can we bring my baby back?

happy thanksgiving to you and your family!

Wedding Preps

Our weekend was packed, a birthday party and a wedding. I was surprisingly able to manage and take quite a few shots before heading to Ben's niece Maggie's wedding. But there will be a whole blogpost on the fun kid's party we went to earlier before the wedding.

Here are a few shots before we left to go to church and a picture of aston with his cousins. It was such a fun night being with family and just hitting the dancefloor and enjoying the open bar!

Isn't he cute in his little striped jacket? Cuteness galore.

Crafting Comunity for Splendid

Local Houston blogger Audrey and her friends will be hosting a fun family event for the grand store opening of Splendid in the Highland Village this Saturday October 6th at 11 am!

Unfortunately, the hubs has an all-boys outing this Saturday so only Aston and I can come out and play. If you are in the Houston area, please do come out for a crafting community event which will be great!

See you there!

Kindergarten Lately

Aston 5 yrs old

The first month of Kindergarten was quite a breeze (with a just few reports from the teachers about compliance issues, oh well, stubborn boy). Carpool started last week and with the long line, we had a few moments to goof around with my phone camera while we waited for our turn (car is on park mode).

Carpool

We fought for airtime here :))

Carpool

This past Monday he went home with homework so we arranged for a homework schedule. It worked well with him and I'm so proud of his reading skills. Slowly and surely getting there!

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm looking forward to working with him in his homeworks. I'm sure there will be days and nights where a frown or a "NO!" response is what I'll get but so far so good and I am hoping for the best!

Homework

Every Friday will be Show and Share at his kindergarten class and today it is his turn to "show" what he wants to be when he grows up (it was to become a superhero last week). Last night, we prepared for his "show" talking about why he wants to be a doctor (inspired by dad) and he had a ball playing with daddy's "telescope" (stethoscope) and instructing the bear to "breathe". We'll see what he actually did in class from the full report of his teacher. I hope he didn't goof off and be the comedy man of the hour :)
