Boo for Allergies

Oh yes, they do. And our poor little Aston suffered from them so bad. I picked him up from school last Friday and I knew that spring season is here as his eyes were watery, puffy and red. It seems that his allergies are getting worse year after year. Or the pollen is just getting bad and early this time. Whatever it is, it's still bad news and it refrained us from having a wonderful time this past weekend as it was such a glorious beautiful weekend in the city. He did take a kid's allergy medication which the first one we gave him made him drowsy and loopy. He spent most of Saturday sleeping but was fine Sunday when we switched his meds but still, no playground trips or outdoor fun for a long period of time.

How is the allergy season treating you?

Weekend Report and More

It's rodeo time here in Houston and last Friday was my son's rodeo day at school. We went for the urban cowboy look wearing a plaid shirt and old H&M boots which surprisingly held up well for the price we got it for last october. This coming Wednesday is their rodeo cook-off at school where they will actually get to BBQ their lunch themselves. Hopefully, they won't burn the school down!

Collage

Technically, spiderman and the cowboy look does not blend well but he has to show it off somehow.

Stripey twins

Crazy happy

These were scenes from our weekend. It was cold and dreary but we still had a lot of fun driving around with daddy. We were both in stripes and thought that was cute!

Lastly, neiman marcus beauty event is ongoing - what did you pick up in order to score that adorable faux python tote with freebies in it? I fell in love with my purchases :

Tom Ford loot

Tom Ford's lip color in cherry lush and casablanca. Also, a bottle of african violet nail lacquer which i'm now wearing and it's an amazing color!

The beauty event lasts till march 4th!

Have a great week all!

Post-Valentine Report

It was a lovely time with just the three of us spending Valentine's day together. I cooked a simple Valentine's dinner meal and we hang out together afterwards. Earlier that day, Aston had a Valentine's party at school and boy, did he take home lots of goodies from his friends. It was like christmas all over again! Too bad, I forgot to take pictures of it.

Here's the sweet bookmark gift he gave us for Valentine's day from school with his photos on it. So cute!

Bookmark Vday gift for mom & dad

I got an acrylic photo (photo by my niece Ailynne) block for the husband from me and the little guy ordered from Erin Condren and it was just a precious gift. He loved it!

This were the texts on the back that you can customize. It was just the perfect Valentine's gift!

little valentine's

the weekend was a quiet one. it was a cold weekend and after church and brunch, the little guy and i spent some time preparing his school valentine's treats for his buddies.

he is bigtime into lego star wars lately and it was one of those days that a store bought lego star wars treat was just the perfect valentine's for his little friends. i am glad that he is willing to share that obsession with them and is just ecstatic to hand them out. we received strict intructions from his teachers that they themselves need to write their names and their classmates' names on the cards so he spent a great deal of time perfecting the scribbles.

of course, i was not about to give up my semi-crafty skills and  helped out on the simple packaging for it.  check out the little guy's handwriting below. i think more practice is in order for him during the summer in preparation for kindergarten!

Little Valentine's

for the easy bags to hold the stickers and cards, here are the supplies :

smallest sized ziploc
craft scissors
card stock paper
glue

all i did was cutout the patterned paper (i used a polkadot red & white one - not too girly but still perfect for valentine's) just enough to fit as a favor topper to dress up the package. i trimmed the edges using a pretty craft scissor for an added design touch. finally, i glued them using my trusty tombow glue.

Packaging supplies

you can kick it up a notch and stamp a valentine-themed design (with the help of the little one) on the favor paper topper if you are using a plain colored cardstock. but since we are using a patterned one here, i left that out and just trimmed the edges with a fancy craft scissor.

Ready to go!

......and here are the valentine's treats all ready to be handed out this tuesday!

Birthday Week Post

The week started with a big bang. It was Chinese New Year and we are ushering the water dragon for 2012. Pretty exciting!

Recap of My Week

I can't believe the month is almost over and February is just around the corner. Let me go ahead and share a brief recap of my eventful week.

The past week brought weird Houston warm weather coupled with drizzling days. I re-discovered my old anorak and paired it with my outfits most of the past days. I love that it's in a neutral shade that pretty much goes with everything. I say, great investment from over the years.

Fave anorak

Also I am thrilled to share that i found this amazing pink sperry topsiders and i am in love. It's the canvas kind and is so comfortable I can wear them all day. I practically wore them everyday in high school but back then it didn't came in this fun color (well, not that I can recall). I was just excited to get them!

Friday stripes

I also did some serious marketing work for the office, hence the granny look below. LOL.

Thursday ootd

Then Saturday, met up with old high school besties for an early birthday lunch and Rae brought delectable Crave cupcakes! Amazing as always. Thank you!

Crave cupcakes

Little guy just had to be in the scene to blow the candle. Great week overall and I can't wait to celebrate Chinese New Year and get excited with the upcoming year of the Dragon!

Instagram iPhone App and More

I am quite obsessed with my iPhone 4S and recently discovered fun apps to play with. Of course there's instagram. I've found new friends in the IG community and led me to find out more easy apps to play with your photos.

Frametastic, Phonto (for texts and fonts), Labelbox (for labels and tape add-ons) and Photogram. So fun!

Here are some of the pictures and collages I've created just by using my phone killing time......

Christmas Recap 2011

I am so behind sharing our wonderful holiday break and Christmas celebration. Let me go ahead and do a short Christmas recap in photos (I haven't had the chance to even download the rest of our holiday pictures from the big camera). Nevertheless, these shots capture special moments and highlights of the past weeks in December.

First off - Aston had a Christmas party before his school break. They had a post-lunch party with arts and crafts, holiday cupcakes and green milk. It was fun to see them exchange gifts and handing out presents to their teachers and really get the meaning of sharing the holiday spirit!

Back at home, the husband decided to have Christmas lights put up professionally and he's been obsessed. Not contented, he opted to have the trees trimmed and decked out with lights too!

I got myself busy baking some homemade food for the gods for lucky friends and relatives and really hoped they liked my version. I also got treated with some really yummy treats and goodies from friends afar. We received and loved KettleCorn NYC, pecan cookies from David's, Yoku Moku cookies and so much more! Thank you to all my generous friends who shared those with us!

Then we were off to San Diego Legoland before Christmas to meet up with my sister and sister-in-law who were both flying in from Chicago. We had an absolute blast there enjoying the gorgeous weather and the winter wonderland Legoland has to offer!

Aston get to play in real snow, build snowmen, throw snowballs and get to meet Santa in full Lego form!
The giant Christmas tree made of Legos was unbelievable and the fireworks were simply amazing!

On Christmas eve, our hotel set up a cookie and hot chocolate bar for us to enjoy and we mingled and exchanged holiday greetings with other hotel guests. Before midnight, we head on back to our room and opened gifts!

This was the first time for us to travel during Christmas and we sure missed sharing them with friends and relatives back home. It was still a memorable one and we'll surely remember in years to come!
